Ebook About Ann Rule captures the fascinating story of a spoiled Southern charmer with a hidden evil side. Unbeknownst to her family and friends, Pat Taylor was a sociopath, dedicated to getting what she wants in life…no matter the consequence. Everything She Ever Wanted chronicles Taylor’s manipulative and ruthless acts including arson, poison and murder, spanning over two decades and ending with three dead bodies. Everything She Ever Wanted was made into a TV Mini-series for Lifetime in 2009, starring Gina Gershon and Victor Garber."Rule hits the bull's-eye." — Publisher's Weekly"A headlong plunge into the depths of a sociopathic mind, told with a master's hand." — Kirkus Reviews”Book Everything She Ever Wanted Review :
Aside from the bizarre and grotesque nature of the story (which all of the reviews correctly and obviously mention), there is one aspect that really intrigued me: assuming the background and basic events here are actually factual, how this woman could be perceived as a "lady" and her family as in any way "good" is beyond me.Generations of teenage pregnancies and weddings. Nothing (or very little) in the way of education. Scandals and fits and oddities and erratic behavior that make Latin soap operas sound like Plato (and I'm Latin by the way). Shoplifting (what?!). Getting into physical fights with neighbors. Claiming time and again that she had been raped, or molested, or harassed by men (and no charges sought). Going back and forth to parents' house dragging children. Flagrant inappropriate behavior with own children. A seedy "romance" with a married politician. Bad checks. Theft. And all that without even getting into the real good stuff (gold-digging, murder, attempted murder, fraud etc).Kind of a scary notion to imagine what kind of people would be described as "dysfunctional", "trashy" or "low-rent" by these fine folks then. As I reread this book, now decades old, after having read scores of newer and newer books over the years, I still come back to Ann Rule for the shear joy of her great story telling abilities and complex characters that she brings to life in these true crime stories. She’s simply the master of this genre and will always be the queen of true crime writers in my eyes.
